I also love to make gratitude lists. You can now connect with others who do the same thing at Gratitude Log. I’m not a Polly Anna by any stretch, but I have wondered from time to time what the world would be like if we focused on mental wellness, rather than mental illness. What if we had a Peace Room in the White House, rather than a War Room? What if we taught our daughters that their beauty was within, rather than in a bottle of cosmetics?
I think John Lennon had it right when he wrote “Imagine” because when that song plays ~ it inspires millions of people to think on these things.
Social networks can make happiness contagious. Talk about viral! Try it! Studies suggest that happiness not only spreads through the people you know, but by the people they know, too. So, someone you don’t even know can make you happy, and visa versa! Pretty cool.
A friend of mine from T2 recently turned me on to this website: www.wefeelfine.org. It’s an amazing site that monitors what people are saying all over the world about how they feel. They are little colored dots that float all around together until you capture their thought by clicking on a dot – then someone’s feelings are revealed. You can search by country, age, gender, etc., and this site itself can become contagious.
So, make someone happy today, okay? And, pay attention to what happens around you. I’ll bet you smile.
">I shadowed Teri for about 6 months when she first hired me, and then it almost became a habit, and we were inseparable for a time – until it was no longer practical and then we would meet as often as we could. I think it was in college when someone said that one secret to success was to touch base with your boss at least once per day. I took that advice seriously and in this case, it made a big difference in my success.
Biggest lesson I learned from Teri – meetings. She takes meetings with all sorts of people. Students, entrepreneurs, film makers, artists, bbq chefs, authors, the list goes on. It’s a brilliant strategy because meeting a lot of people makes you a valuable resource of making connections for some of them. I loved it because I’ve always had the knack of never forgetting a name or a face. So, now I know how to do that ~ make connections. BE a connection. So…..who do you need to meet?
">That means lifting other people up, enhancing the image of a company, creating a general buzz, expanding an idea, promoting a cause, implementing change, creating a culture of optimism, developing leadership, expanding consciousness…and things like that.
Basically, in my mind, that describes Marketing. And that’s what I do.
